Why Kalaweit ? 

Kalaweit is an association born from the willingness to help gibbons in Borneo and Sumatra, and to protect their habitat.
 
The 17 species of gibbons are threatened. Deforestation to make way for oil palms and the capture of young gibbons to sell them as pets, are the main causes.

Today, Kalaweit is taking care of 250 gibbons and siamangs, 50 employees in Indonesia, a radio "Kalaweit FM" on Borneo and more the 10 000 hectares of forests under the protection of the association.
